I Worked at an Amazon Fulfillment Center; They Treat Workers Like Robots Agroup of workers with their fists raised in solidarity hold a scrawled sign: “We are humans not robots!” They and others at an Amazon warehouse in Minnesota protested in March and on July’s Amazon Prime Days. They were speaking against the day-to-day dehumanizing reality of their workplace. If your only interaction with Amazon is packages arriving on your doorstep, it can be hard to understand what workers are unhappy about, or why one described his fulfillment center as an “existential sh-thole,” or why so many others shared stories about crying at work.   How Amazon Destroyed American Book Publishing Most SurvivalBlog readers are aware that I’ve been an outspoken critic of Amazon.com’s business practices, their leftist agenda, and their blatant censorship. I even went so far as to very publicly resign from the Amazon Associates program. I did so on principle, knowing that it would cost me nearly $30,000 per year in sales commissions. But I didn’t hesitate, because I knew that it was the right thing to do. In this article, How Amazon Destroyed American Book Publishing

Boycott Amazon

Boycott Amazon We have called a boycott of Amazon over its outrageous tax avoidance since 2012. In 2020, Amazon announced that its key UK business paid just £14.46 million in tax in 2019 – a 3% increase from the previous year,  despite pre-tax profits growing by more than 35% . We have estimated that in 2017 Amazon’s  tax avoidance  from profit shifting alone  cost the UK £52million . Amazon promised in 2015 that it would begin to pay a fairer rate of tax.   Ten Reasons to Avoid Doing Business With Amazon.com Amazon is the world’s largest bookseller, offering more than 2 million titles. In an effort to lower prices, the company has demanded additional discounts from distributors—which, as Colin Robinson  points out , is illegal under anti-trust law that prevents companies from selling a product at different prices to different customers. The company has been accused of having a “ monopolistic grip on the publishing industry .” Ten Reasons to Avoid Doing Business With Amazon.com

Ten Reasons to Avoid Doing Business With Amazon.com Last year, the Greenlining Institute  reported  that Amazon’s tax rate was among the lowest, at just 3.5 percent, of all companies included in the study. Yet despite the massive savings Amazon enjoys from exploiting tax loopholes, the company contributes  surprisingly little  to charities around its Seattle-area headquarters. What Is a Brushing Scam and How Does It Work?

Image
What Is a Brushing Scam and How Does It Work? Don’t celebrate the arrival of that unexpected Amazon delivery The scam starts with a delivery that you haven’t ordered or paid for. The goods are coming from an ecommerce platform (in most cases, Amazon) and are often brand new and in their original packaging. There could be a wide variety of items, but the package is always addressed directly to you. The Federal Trade Commission has said that you have every right to keep whatever is in the box, and you don’t need to pay for it, which is why we said at the beginning of this article that this is one of the few scams that doesn’t necessarily leave you empty-handed. A scam is a scam, though, and you need to know how it works, why you might be targeted, and what you can do if you fall victim to it. What Is a Brushing Scam and How Does It Work?
